November 3, 2015

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Class of 2016! The PTO, or Parent Teacher Organization, is a dedicated group of JELC parents and teachers with one goal; to make our children’s school experience one to remember! We are made up of working parents, stay-at-home parents and everybody in between!

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as your new PTO Co-Presidents, Dana Isaac, Tara Streeter and Michele Friend. We are so excited to partner with staff and parents to start this PTO at our school and make this year the most successful experience. As a PTO, we want to grow membership, add new activities, contribute to communities and families less fortunate than ours, and raise more money for our children and teachers, which is why we need your help!

Your contribution of $15 per family covers the entire school year and helps to support a variety of activities. Checks can be made out to the Maimonides Educational Center- PTO and can be given to Debbie Ginsberg in the school office. Some activities that we would like to have are a Plant Sale, Toy/Coat/Food Drive, Holiday Parties, Ladies Night, Family Outings, end of the year trip, and of course the “Moving Up” ceremony and a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. While we plan these activities, we are also planning new and unique things to do and participate in so stay tuned!

We will be having our first JELC PTO meeting on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 8:15 p.m. at the Jewish ELC at 2174 Hewlett Avenue. At this time, we will discuss some of the upcoming activities, getting your ideas and announcing the two “class moms” from each class. A “class mom” is a parent that helps the teacher organize classroom activities and outreaches to the parents in the class. If you are interested in becoming a class mom, please let Debbie Ginsberg know by Friday, November 6th.

If you wish to communicate by e-mail, our address is This mailbox will be monitored regularly and you will receive timely responses.

Please know that your monetary contribution does not require you to attend or participate in any of the activities. However, whether you have days or evenings free, a few hours a week, or even a few hours for the year, there are many things that you can help with.

We are hoping that you will join us as members of the JELC PTO this year!

Warmest Regards,

Dana, Tara & Michele
