VIDEO: Merrick Lights the Menorah The Jewish community gathers to celebrate the Festival of Lights.

Tuesday marked an important day on the Jewish calendar – the very first day of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights. To commemorate this special occasion, a Menorah lighting was held in Merrick, drawing a large crowd to witness this beautiful ceremony despite the bitter, rainy weather. The ceremony was highlighted by a parade lead by U.S. Army troops, dancing, and of course, the symbolic lighting of the Menorah itself.
