Huntington Town Council Members spread the word on recycling.

On Tuesday, August 1st, the Town 0f Huntington continued its grass-roots recycling campaign by visiting with Rabbi Shimon Kramer of the Gan Israel Day Camp. Huntington Town Council members Susan Berland, Stuart Besen and Glenda Jackson along with Matt Laux of the Town's Environmental Department supplied the children with fun facts about the need and the importance of separating paper, plastic, glass and metal goods for the purpose of recycling.

Town Councilwoman Susan Berland said that "it's extremely important that the recycling program reaches every person in the Town of Huntington. The best way to start people on a path to recycle is to start when they are young. That's why it's so important to bring recycle programs to camps and schools alike".

Councilman Stuart Besen then asked the campers " Do you know how long a coffee cup buried in the ground would last if not properly recycled?" One of the campers answered " one year?" "40 years" answered the Councilman, "Which is why it is so important to spread the recycling word into the ears of our youth", added the councilman.

"Children are our future, and they need to know that even the smallest recycling contribution they make, can have such a huge impact on their environment. Knowledge is power!" said Councilwoman Glenda Jackson.
